At GreatHost, we have an exclusive control panel for game servers, including Minecraft. Our goal is to make your experience intuitive, simple, and, above all, fun.
Are you interested in having your own Minecraft server? Or maybe you already have one but are struggling to find all the necessary options to manage it properly? It's normal to feel a little lost at first, but don't worry: we're here to help.
Below, we present a complete guide that will allow you to thoroughly understand all the administration tools for your server. After reading it, you'll be able to manage it quickly, efficiently, and hassle-free.
In this guide, you will find:
A structured overview of the control panel.
Clear explanations of each feature.
Tips to get the most out of your server.
With this information, you'll be able to customize your Minecraft server to your preferences, keep it optimized, and ensure the best experience for both you and your players.
The Console is the first section you'll see when you access your Minecraft server. From this screen, you can view and control essential aspects of the server. Below, we explain each element you'll find:
Server Name: It appears at the top. If you double-click on it, you can change the name for easier identification.
IP Address and Port: Right next to the name is the IP address and the port assigned to your server. This is the address players should use to connect.
CPU Usage: Indicates how much processor power the server is using in real time. This is useful for detecting if it's overloaded.
RAM Usage: Shows how much RAM the server is using. A high value may indicate that many plugins or players are connected.
Disk Usage: Reflects the amount of storage the server is using to store data such as worlds, plugins, and configuration files.
Control Buttons:
Start: Turns on the server if it's turned off.
Restart: Automatically turns the server off and back on.
Shutdown: Safely stops the server.
Kill: Forces an immediate shutdown of the server without waiting for processes, which can cause data loss if used carelessly.
In the Files section, you'll find all the files and folders on your server, organized so that files are displayed first, then folders.
From here you can:
Download, delete, or edit files easily.
Edit a file by double-clicking on it.
Access a folder also by double-clicking.
To the right of each item, you'll see icons to:
Download the file or folder.
Delete it quickly and securely.
This system allows you to manage all the content on your server quickly and easily, without the need for external programs.
In the Users section, you can share access to your server with other people quickly and easily.
Just:
Click "Add User".
Enter the email of the user you want to share it with.
Confirm... and that's it!
Keep in mind that the added user will have full access to the server, including all settings, files, and controls. Make sure to share it only with people you trust.
In the Backups section, you can easily manage your server backups. This feature is ideal for protecting your progress and ensuring you can restore your server in case of errors, failures, or unwanted changes.
From here you can:
Create a new backup with a single click.
Download your backups to save them to your device.
Delete old backups you no longer need.
We recommend creating backups periodically, especially before making major changes to your server. This way, you'll always have a safe version to return to if something goes wrong.
In the Settings section, you can manage the most important settings for your Minecraft server. From this section, you can modify key configurations that directly affect the server's behavior and version.
Available options:
DELETE: Delete your server completely. ⚠️ Be careful! This action is irreversible.
REINSTALL: Reinstalls the server from scratch. Ideal if you want to start over with a clean install.
JAVA VERSION: Select the Java version your server will use. It's important to choose the correct one based on the version of Minecraft you're using.
BUILD NUMBER: Defines the server build; the default is latest
(the latest available).
DL PATH: Direct path to download your custom JAR from a URL.
MINECRAFT VERSION: Displays the version of Minecraft you're using.
SERVER JARFILE: Name of the .jar
file that starts the server (for example: server.jar
).
This section allows you to have full control over your server's base environment, ensuring compatibility, performance, and ease of restarting or adjusting everything to your needs.
